BlackBerry App World crosses the 3 billion downloads mark

After going through some tough times, Research in Motion finally has some good news to share. BlackBerry App World has reached the 3 billion downloads mark, with 1 billion downloads in the past six months. These downloads include applications downloaded to the BlackBerry smartphone and its PlayBoook tablet.

Announcing via the company’s developer blog, Victoria B., spokesperson for Research in Motion, said: “On average, 2.5 million apps are downloaded from Blackberry App World each day. What’s even more important and impressive is that the number of daily downloads continues to increase. , “she continued.” It took 786 days to reach the billion, 210 days to reach two billion and only 176 days to reach the number three billion. “

The company also clarified that these figures do not include apps downloaded from third-party BlackBerry app stores or those distributed internally to businesses around the world. And not even those downloaded directly from the web.

Blackberry App World currently offers 90,000 apps to its users. It might not compare to Apple’s App Store with 650,000 apps or the Google Play Store with 600,000 apps, but it’s definitely worth paying attention to.

With the launch of BlackBerry10 devices next year, the Ontario-based mobile phone maker must support app developers if it seeks to consistently increase those numbers.
