After repeatedly postponing the plan, WhatsApp has confirmed that it will finally end its support for BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS devices on December 31.
According to kompas.comother devices affected by the move are Windows Phone 8.0 and older versions of the operating system.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp would still support Nokia S40 OS until December 31, 2018 and Android 2.3.7 or earlier OS versions until February 1, 2020.

Users should note that this decision does not mean that they will no longer be able to use WhatsApp on their platform, but some features will no longer work.
“You can still use WhatsApp, but you won’t be able to create a new account or re-verify previous accounts,” the company explained.
WhatsApp would take these steps to prioritize the allocation of its resources to new platforms.
“The platform [we no longer support] doesn’t have the capability we need to expand WhatsApp functionality in the future,” he said.
Users of newer BlackBerry devices such as the BlackBerry Priv, Aurora and KeyOne will not be affected by the decision as they use Android operating systems. (kes)
